“VYC makes me feel brave.”

Wren
VYC Kids
“VYC is a space where kids can really connect - to their talents, their peers and adult mentors who truly care.”

Lori Seay
VYC Parent
VYC Kid performs three times a year with all of the VYC choirs, as well as in community and outreach performances in the lower mainland. The choir focuses on building healthy vocal technique and music literacy skills in a supportive and welcoming community. VYC Kids singers are proud to act as mentors in our VYC Tiny program.
VYC Kids is conducted by Michelle Hartley, and accompanied by Helen Pei. At each VYC KIDS rehearsal, there are mentor singers from our older choirs who assist with sectionals and vocal modelling, and lead small group rehearsals.
NOTE
VYC Kids does not require previous experience. Because all of our choirs overlap in age, we are able to provide a rewarding and satisfying experience for every singer, regardless of experience. It is essential for each young artist’s development that they are placed in the choir level that is right for them! All singers are asked to participate in a placement interview, where the director will determine which choir is the best fit based on your child’s age, musical experience, and social maturity. Find out what to expect at your interview.
Fees
- Cost for this program is $650 per singer. As always, we have bursaries available for singers with financial need.
