CELIE
VYC Junior
VYC Junior performs three times a year with all of the VYC choirs, as well as in community and outreach performances in the lower mainland. VYC Junior singers work on four-part SATB repertoire, building healthy vocal technique and music literacy skills in a supportive and welcoming community. VYC Junior singers are proud to act as mentors in our VYC Tiny and VYC Kids programs.
VYC JUNIOR is conducted by Carrie Tennant, and accompanied by Caitlin Hayes. At each VYC Junior rehearsal, there are mentor singers from our older choirs who assist with sectionals and vocal modelling, and lead small group rehearsals.
NOTE
All of our choirs overlap in age, and it is essential for each young artist’s development that they are placed in the choir level that is right for them! All singers are asked to participate in a placement interview, where the director will determine which choir is the best fit, based on their age, musical experience, and social maturity. Find out what to expect at your interview.
Fees
- Cost for this program is $700 per singer. As always, we have bursaries available for singers with financial need.
- Please email us for more bursary information
Rehearsals
- Wednesday evenings from 4:30-6:45 at St Mary’s Kerrisdale Church
- 2490 West 37th Avenue
Safety Protocols
VYC is anticipating being back to in-person rehearsals in the fall. We will continue to have safety policies and guidelines in place that adhere to public health guidelines. All families are asked to read and sign our safety policies, and agree to follow all the protocol outlined in order to participate in the choir.
