VYC Welcomes Cassie Luftspring

VYC is excited to introduce Cassie Luftspring to the VYC family! Leading our brand new VYC Kids choir, Cassie is a versatile choral conductor and a specialist in working with young singers. She combines her artistry, passion for teaching, and knowledge of vocal development to create an environment that is both musically and socially rewarding. She loves enabling children of all ages to share the gift of music with each other and their communities.

Before joining VYC, Cassie was Associate Conductor and Director of Musicianship for the Cantabile Youth Singers of Silicon Valley, where she conducted choirs for children aged 8-18 and implemented a graduated theory and musicianship program. She was also Assistant Artistic Director of the Mississauga Festival Youth Choir, and a member of Artistic Staff for the Toronto Children's Chorus, Cantabile Choirs of Kingston, and others. Cassie is an experienced music teacher and accompanist, and an accomplished composer. She has been commissioned by world renowned ensembles including the Toronto Children’s Chorus and the Amadeus Choir.

A Toronto native, Cassie received a Master of Music degree in choral conducting from the University of Toronto, and a Bachelor of Music degree in piano and composition from Queen’s University. Cassie moved to Vancouver in January 2016 after an extended journey through South America, Southeast Asia, and China. She is thrilled to join the VYC family!
